He knew the truth. Or at least he thought he did. But then one always thinks they know the truth, don't they? As he had gotten older, it had become harder and harder to tell what was true, and what was legend.
They approached the old house. It still looked like he remembered it, all those many years ago. He turned to his wife, "Are you ready?"
"No" She answered, and gulped a big breath of air in as they stepped up on the porch. The porch ran across the length of the front of the house. As was the custom of the day. There were rotten floorboard scatted along both sides, and several old metal lawn chairs or the 1950's vintage lean up against the wall. seeming to be waiting to be pull out and used again at a moments notice the old small round metal table, that went with them, had once been the same color as the chairs, now, all were covered in rust. They reached the front door. Pushing it open, they found themselves in a large foyer of sorts with stairs coming down to the left, and the room seemed to be open with several hallways leading to other parts of the house. They took several steps inside. The door swung shut behind them. They jumped and looked at each other. Suddenly there was a cold breeze. It seemed to come from nowhere. The room itself was furnished as it was when he had seen it last 300 years ago. Even then, most of the stuff was old. Actually it was several centuries old. There were a number of large highboys and sideboards of different styles, he know dated back to the 1700's, and some stuff even earlier then that. Of course he would know that, He bought it when it was new. As he walked through the house memories begun to come back to him, of people and events that had occurred during his time here. In the study, what we would call today a office he found his original calenders, dated in the early 1700's and letters and documents in his own hand. He had been away for a very long time. Now he was back, he had anew life and he was ready to start over.
He went back to find his wife looking around upstairs in the bedrooms. He lead her into a elegantly furnished room with a huge four poster bed, and a beautiful tapestry hanging on the wall. But there were no mirrors at all in the house.
He lead her into the room.
"This will be our room" He said as he bit her on the neck.
